Guided gender-affirming surgery in Thailand

Editorial Policy

Current as of: February 2026

How We Maintain Clinical Standards

Patients considering gender-affirming surgery deserve content they can trust. Every procedure page, clinical guide and health-related article on this website is written to inform — never to persuade — and undergoes rigorous review before publication. This policy explains the standards and processes behind our content.

Our Medical Reviewer

All clinical material is evaluated by Dr. Kanokwan Pattanaporn, a board-certified surgeon with extensive experience in gender-affirming procedures in Bangkok. Before any content goes live, Dr. Pattanaporn assesses it for:

  • Medical accuracy of procedure descriptions, techniques and terminology
  • Completeness and fairness of risk, complication and recovery information
  • Alignment of stated outcomes with current clinical evidence
  • Appropriate handling of topics specific to gender-affirming care, including terminology that reflects contemporary medical and community standards

From Research to Publication

Our editorial workflow has five stages:

  1. Source gathering — The editorial team consults peer-reviewed literature, established clinical guidelines including the WPATH Standards of Care for the Health of Transgender and Gender Diverse People, and input from practising surgeons
  2. Writing — Content is drafted in accessible language, balancing clinical detail with readability and ensuring gender-affirming topics are addressed with care
  3. Clinical review — Dr. Pattanaporn examines the draft for factual accuracy, balanced risk disclosure and correct use of medical terminology
  4. Sensitivity review — A dedicated pass ensures all language is respectful, affirming and consistent with current best practices for communicating about gender-diverse healthcare
  5. Periodic reassessment — Published content is re-evaluated at least every six months against the latest clinical evidence, WPATH updates and evolving standards of care

Principles That Guide Our Content

Every piece of medical content on this site follows these principles:

  • Grounded in evidence — Procedure descriptions, risk profiles and recovery expectations draw on published research and established clinical practice
  • Forthright about limitations — We are upfront that individual results vary, that every surgical procedure carries inherent risk, and that no outcome can be guaranteed
  • Even-handed — Benefits and risks receive equal attention. We do not minimise complications or overstate what surgery can achieve
  • Affirming and inclusive — Language across the site follows current WPATH guidelines and reflects the terminology preferred by the gender-diverse community
  • Informational, not prescriptive — Nothing published here replaces a direct consultation with a qualified surgeon or mental health professional
  • Transparent on cost — Prices are starting estimates. We make clear that final costs depend on clinical assessment and may differ by hospital and surgeon

Where Our Information Comes From

  • Peer-reviewed surgical and medical literature
  • WPATH Standards of Care for the Health of Transgender and Gender Diverse People
  • Guidance from the Endocrine Society, ISAPS and other recognised clinical bodies
  • Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation standards
  • Thai Medical Council and Thai FDA regulatory frameworks

Editorial Independence

Thailand Affirm earns referral fees from partner hospitals. That commercial relationship has no influence on what we publish. Procedure information, risk disclosures and clinical guidance are produced independently — hospital partnerships never shape editorial decisions.
